Mr Scotney has been a director of Town and Country Law, based in Lincoln, since 2016.

Mr Scotney is a member of the Institute of Paralegals (which has recently been acquired by CILEX), an organisation that is made up of more than 17,000 specialist lawyers, paralegals and other legal professionals and aims to help its members showcase their skills, progress their careers and keep these skills up to date.
From September 2010 to February 2014, Mr Scotney was a senior recruitment manager and headhunter at Focus Search and Selection, where he provided a recruitment service for several large institutions within the private banking and IFA sectors. In this role, Mr Scotney nurtured an extensive network, always prioritising integrity, to become an award-winning recruiter within the industry.
Mr Scotney has a wide-ranging skill set. He has experience in business development, training, recruitment, networking, relationship management, talent management and sales management and has worked extensively in the fields of human resources and financial services. He enjoys a variety of hobbies and interests in his free time, including golf (in which he has a handicap of seven) and snooker (with his highest break to date being 145). His firm, Town and Country Law, has organised charity golf days in the past and also sponsors its local football team.
